Choose the right banknote counter

The Magner 35D is another option for fast quantity counting. For mixed value counting and two pocket processing, explore the X500 banknote counter.

If you need to count coins as well as notes during a till count, a cash counting scale such as the RS2000 may be a better fit. Cashtec can explain the differences before you decide.

Choosing a banknote counting machine is only part of the process. Cashtec provides product advice, training and ongoing support to help you use your equipment confidently.

Banknote counting questions

A quantity counter counts the number of banknotes fed into it. For a cash total, notes are normally separated by denomination before counting. A mixed value counter identifies denominations and calculates the combined value of mixed notes. The CT2000 is a quantity counter; the CT1900 supports mixed value counting.

Many banknote counters include counterfeit detection, but the checks and supported currencies vary by model. Tell Cashtec which currencies and banknotes you handle so we can recommend a suitable machine and explain how suspect notes are flagged.

Consider how many notes you count each day, whether they are mixed denominations, which currencies you accept and whether you need a separate reject pocket. Cashtec can help compare the options for retail, hospitality, banking and cash office use.

Some value counters and detectors need software updates to recognise new banknote designs. Update requirements depend on the model and installed software. See our currency and software update service or contact Cashtec with your model and serial number. View currency and software updates.
